Player analytics and coaching insights for your table tennis club

4 min read

Beyond just recording who won, PingPongArena can build analytics about how each player is actually performing, and can generate short AI-written coaching insights for players — a table tennis player analytics app built on top of matches you're already scoring.

This guide explains what's included, what plan you need, and — importantly — a real limitation you should know about before you rely on AI coaching insights table tennis analytics like these.

What "full player analytics" means

Full player analytics means deeper statistics about a player's performance across their matches, not just the final scores. This is a Club plan feature (or included with the €12 single-event pass) — the Free plan does not include full player analytics.

  • Sign in as the host.
  • Open the Players or Stats tab for your event.
  • If your event is on the Club plan (or has the event pass applied), you'll see the fuller analytics view. On Free, this view isn't available.

The gap you need to know about: manual entries produce no point-level data

This is worth stating plainly because it's easy to misunderstand: point-by-point analytics only come from matches that were live-scored — meaning the match was scored point-by-point in real time through PingPongArena's live scoring (via the scorer link, keyboard, or a Bluetooth presenter remote/clicker).

If a match result was entered manually instead — for example, a host typing in a final score like "11-6, 11-8" after the fact — there is no point-by-point data behind that result. The app never saw the individual points happen, so it has nothing to build point-level analytics from. That match's final score still counts toward standings and the report, but it's excluded from point-level analytics.

This is a real, current limitation of how the data is generated, not a bug: analytics can only be built from data that exists, and manual entry simply doesn't produce point-level data by design.

Practical takeaway: if you want full point-level analytics for a match, it needs to be live-scored (not manually entered) using the scorer link, keyboard controls, or a paired Bluetooth remote.

AI Coach insights (coach-style practice cards)

Separately from full analytics, PingPongArena can generate short AI-written coaching insights — practice-card-style notes — for players in your event. This is its own entitlement, meaning it's controlled separately from the full-analytics toggle above; a plan can include one, the other, both, or neither, depending on the plan.

The number of AI Coach insights available per event depends on your plan:

  • Sign in as the host and open your event.
  • Find the AI Coach / coaching insights option for a player (inside the Players or Stats area).
  • Generate an insight. Each generation uses one of your event's available insights, up to the limit for your plan.

Quick reference

If analytics matter to your club, standardize on live scoring (scorer link or keyboard/clicker) for as many matches as practical, rather than typing in final scores after the fact — that's the only way to get point-level data into the system at all.

  • Full player analytics — Club plan or event pass required; not on Free.
  • Point-level stats — only from live-scored matches; manually entered results are excluded from these analytics (they still count for standings/report).
  • AI Coach insights — separate entitlement; 1/event on Free, 20/event on Club, unlimited on Club Pro and Founder.

Common questions

Do I need a paid plan for player analytics?

Full player analytics needs the Club plan or the €12 event pass — the Free plan doesn't include it. AI Coach insights are a separate entitlement available on every plan, just with a lower limit on Free.

Why don't manually entered matches show point-level stats?

Because the app never saw the individual points happen — point-level analytics only come from matches scored live, point-by-point, through the scorer link, keyboard, or a Bluetooth remote.

Does a manually entered match still count toward standings?

Yes. Its final score still counts toward standings and the tournament report — it's only excluded from point-level analytics.

How many AI Coach insights do I get per event?

1 on Free, 20 on Club, and unlimited on Club Pro and Founder.

Is AI Coach a separate feature from full player analytics?

Yes. It's its own entitlement, controlled separately — a plan can include one, the other, both, or neither.
