Players and spectators don't need an account, and they don't need to be handed your host login, to check live standings during a club night. PingPongArena has one specific link for this: the public /r/<token> link, and it's the reason a club night results tracking app table tennis nights actually use beats a spreadsheet nobody but the organiser can see live.
This guide explains exactly what the link does, its one important limit, and how to generate it.
What the /r/<token> link is
The share link looks like pingpongarena.app/r/ followed by a long token — for example pingpongarena.app/r/ab12cd34. Anyone with that link can open it in a browser without signing in, and see a live, read-only snapshot of your tournament: standings and report information, rebuilt fresh every time the page is loaded.
This is confirmed to be the only page in the whole app that can be viewed while logged out. Every other page — the host dashboard, match screens, player lists, settings, anything — requires being signed in. The app's data is protected so that an anonymous visitor can't read tournament data anywhere except through this one specific link. If a player tells you they "can't see anything" when they try to open the app directly without an account, that's expected: the /r/<token> link is the only door that's open to them. Don't tell players to just "go to the site" and look something up — send them this specific link, not the main app URL.
Who can generate one, and how
Generating a /r/<token> share link requires the Club plan (€19/month or €190/year), or the €12 single-event pass if you only need it for one event. It is not available on Free.
- Sign in as the host and open your event.
- Open the Share dialog in the host UI.
- The Share dialog shows two things: a QR code, and a copyable /r/<token> URL.
- Copy the URL, or let people scan the QR code directly, to share it.
Distributing the link at your club night
- Print or display the QR code somewhere visible at the venue (a printed sheet on the wall, or shown on a screen at the entrance), so players can scan it with their own phones.
- Alternatively, paste the copyable URL into whatever channel your club already uses to reach players — a group chat, a club WhatsApp/Telegram group, or an email.
- Anyone who opens the link — on any device, without an account — sees the live standings snapshot, refreshed each time they load or reload the page.
What the link does and doesn't do
- It shows a read-only snapshot — standings and report information — not an editable view. Nobody can change a score or a setting from this link.
- It does not require the visitor to sign in, install anything, or have a PingPongArena account.
- It is rebuilt fresh each time someone loads it, so refreshing the page gets the latest data — there's no separate "refresh" button needed beyond reloading.
- It is the entire logged-out surface of the app. There is no other page — no separate "public standings page" or "public schedule page" — that works without signing in.
Common questions
Can players see live standings without creating an account?
Yes, through the /r/<token> link. It's confirmed to be the only page in the app that works while logged out — every other page requires signing in.
What plan do I need to generate the share link?
The Club plan (€19/month or €190/year), or the €12 single-event pass for a single event. It isn't available on Free.
Can a visitor edit anything from the share link?
No. It's a read-only snapshot of standings and report information — nobody can change a score or a setting from it.
Does the link update automatically?
It's rebuilt fresh every time the page is loaded, so reloading gets the latest data. There's no separate refresh step beyond that.
